May 26, 2024 at 3:46 PMKolkata Knight Riders locked horns with Sunrisers Hyderabad in the summit clash of the 2024 season of the Indian Premier League at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on May 26. It was the all-important final and KKR needed someone to deliver the goods and they called upon Mitchell Starc. The left-arm pacer had piled on the misery on SRH in Qualifier 1 and he stepped on the big stage.
In the very first over, Starc was right on the money from the get-go and wreaked havoc with the ball. In the fifth ball of the very first over, he bowled a magnificent delivery and castled the in-form Abhishek Sharma. Thus, the southpaw's innings was cut short and scored just two runs. Courtesy of the wicket, Starc gave Kolkata an ideal start. After stemming the run flow in his second over, Starc again weaved his magic in the fifth over of the innings and got rid off the flamboyant Rahul Tripathi at a low score of nine runs.
Besides Starc, other KKR bowlers also delivered the goods in a sensational fashion and dismantled the SRH bowling line-up. While Vaibhav Arora dismissed the Australian destroyer Travis Head, Harshit Rana got rid off Nitish Kumar Reddy and the dangerous Heinrich Klaasen. Andre Russell also made an impact with the ball and dismissed Aiden Markram and Abdul Samad. Meanwhile, Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine carried on the good work and showed their bowling might. Courtesy of the fantastic bowling, Kolkata Knight Riders bundled out SRH on a below-par total of 113 in the final showdown, which is the lowest score in the IPL final in the history of the tournament.
