Harshit Rana is one of the exciting prospects in Indian cricketing circles. He is known to rattle batters with his pace and wreak havoc with the ball. Also, he has also been troubled with his slower balls and was instrumental in KKR’s historic title victory in the 2024 season of the Indian Premier League.

However, Harshit was involved in a fair share of controversies in the ongoing IPL season. In the league game against Sunrisers Hyderabad, he gave a flying kiss send-off to Mayank Agarwal which was booked by the umpires. Then he gave a send-off to Abhishek Porel in the clash against Delhi Capitals and due to this, the ace pacer faced a one-match ban.

After helping KKR clinch their third title, he opened on his send-off saga during his conversation with News18. The right-arm pacer said that he will make sure that he does not do it again. However, he acknowledged that he has played his cricket like this. Harshit further added that he is not on the cricket field to make friends but to win.

“Next time I will make sure that I will not use it as a send-off. This is my cricket. I have always played my cricket like this. I am a fun-loving guy off the field but on the cricket pitch, I am not there to make friends, I want to win. Abhishek Porel smacked me for 16 runs in my first over, if someone hits you for sixes you can’t laugh. In the next over, I took his wicket, the celebration was my redemption but I got banned,” Rana was quoted as saying by News18.

Rana further added that he is a Delhi lad and played cricket from the heart. To explain his point, Rana gives the example of Virat Kohli and mentions that it was aggression which made Kohli who he is today. Harshit also talked about the achievements of other Delhi players including Gautam Gambhir, Ishant Sharma and Rishabh Pant.

“This tag has been given to us. We are from Delhi we play cricket with our heart. This Delhi’s aggression has made Virat Kohli the Virat Kohli he is. Ishant Sharma played 100 Test matches, and Rishabh Pant did that miracle at Gabba. Gautam Gambhir won two World Cup finals for India,” Rana said.

Harshit was magnificent with the ball in the ongoing edition of the tournament and bagged 19 wickets in 13 matches at an economy of 9.08. He complimented Mitchell Starc very well and bagged crucial wickets. Rana would look to carry on the good work going ahead.
