Defending champions Mumbai Indians women's team won the first match of WPL 2024 by defeating the 2023 runner-up, Delhi Capitals. Mumbai Indians's bowling all-rounder Sajeevan Sajana smashed 6 on the last ball when 5 runs were needed from 1 ball.
Harmanpreet Kaur, the victorious captain of Mumbai Indians is also the 'Player of the Match' for her brilliant knock of 55 (34).
She said, "I am happy with the way, the team played. Credits to our batting coach, who made us practice very hard".
MI women's team won the first match of the inaugural WPL session against Gujarat Giants in 2023, and they won the first match in the 2024 WPL against Delhi Capitals women's team. Last year in 2023 MI women's team won 6 matches out of 8.
Mumbai Indians will play their second match against Gujarat Giants on 25th February 2024.
