Saurabh Netravalkar opened up on his love and Virat’s wicket

The 2024 T20 World Cup has been a dream come true for Saurabh Netravalkar, who emerged as an overnight sensation. He has performed outstanding against Pakistan, the same thing he did against India took the big wickets of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

EMOTIONAL ON VIRAT’S WICKET

The 32-year-old Netravalkar took Virat’s wicket and got him out on the first ball for a golden duck. He also took the wicket of Indian skipper Rohit Sharma.

In an interview Saurabh Netravalkar said,  

“I am just happy that I can pursue both my passions. It is all happening very fast and I am in the process of digesting it. These last two games were really high-profile. It was an emotional moment to get Virat’s wicket. I was looking to hit off-stump and it worked out well.”

OLD FRIENDS WITH SURYAKUMAR YADAV

Netravalkar said that he knew SKY from U-15, and U-17 days and they talked about their dressing room banter. Suryakumar congratulated him after his outstanding performance against Pakistan. He said that after he took Virat's wicket, Virat congratulated him for his performance.

He said,

“I know Surya from my U-15, and U-17 days, we are talking about our dressing-room banter. I didn’t know Virat personally but he did congratulate me.”

NETRAVLAKAR ON HIS JOURNEY

USA’s left-arm pacer Saurabh Netravalkar had represented India at the U19 level and also played domestic cricket for Mumbai. However, he didn’t get many opportunities in India in his cricket career. He expressed his other love which is coding. He graduated from Cornell University.

He said,

“It is difficult to explain that journey in a couple of sentences. It’s been really very long. Back then, I had to take a practical call when I saw that my career as a cricketer in India wasn’t really taking off because of the talent around me. I got a chance to study in a reputed university here and it was a decision to pursue my other love, coding.”

USA will be clashing with Ireland on June 14 at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, Lauderhill in Florida. Currently, they stand at the second spot in the Group A points table after their win against Canada and Pakistan. The match against Ireland would guarantee them a spot in the Super 8s along with India. So, the game against Ireland would play a very important role in their place in the Super 8s of T20 World Cup 2024.
