ICC Men's T20 World Cup has completed their 8 editions and 9th one is on their way, the final of 9th edition will be played on 29th of June.


All the finals of T20 WC have been thrilling the most, although some finals have also been slightly one sided like the T20 WC 2022 final between England and Pakistan, and in the way, a player's performance in a thrilling match makes the team champions and that player gets a 'Player of the Match/Man of the Match' award for their brilliant performance.


In this article we will see all the 'Man of the Match' of finals of all T20 World Cup editions from 2007 to 2022.


Here's the list (2007 to 2022)


2007 Man of the Match

2007 T20 WC final was played between India and Pakistan in Johannesburg South Africa on 24th September 2007, which India won by 5 runs. India and Pakistan played out perhaps the best final ever seen in a major tournament.


Irfan Pathan was named as player of the match for his brilliant performance against Pakistan taking 3 wickets by giving just 16 runs in 4 overs.



2009 Man of the Match

The 2009 T20 World Cup final was played between Sri Lanka and Pakistan in Lord's on June 21st 2009. Pakistan won this final by defeating Sri Lanka by 8 wickets.


Shahid Afridi named Man of the Match for his performance against Sri Lanka where he scored 54 not out off 40 balls and also took 1 wicket by giving 20 runs in 4 overs.



2010 Man of the Match

2010 T20 WC final was played between England and Australia in Bridgetown on May 16th 2010. England won this final with the brilliant partnership of Craig Kieswetter and Kevin Pietersen of 111 runs because of this two England won their first ever ICC trophy in 2010.


Craig Kieswetter was Man of the Match for scoring most runs, 63 (49) with 128.57 strike rate.



2012 Man of the Match

This was the 4th edition of T20 World Cup, Sri Lanka and West Indies faced each other at Colombo for the finals, West Indies won by 36 runs.


Marlon Samuels wan 'Man of the Match' award for scoring 78 runs off 56 balls and also took 1 wicket by giving 15 runs in 4 overs.



2014 Man of the Match

This was the final when India reached in the T20 WC final for the second time and Sri Lanka for the consecutive two times (2012, 2014) and total of 3 times appearance in the T20 WC finals. But here Sri Lanka lift their first ever ICC T20 WC trophy by defeating India by 6 wickets.


The match was played in Shere Bangla National Stadium Mirpur, Dhaka on 6th April 2014.


Kumar Sangakkara won 'Man of the Match' for his not out 52 runs off 35 balls.



2016 Man of the Match

This was an epic match of T20 WC history where West Indies won their second T20 WC title by defeating England by 4 wickets and this was the match in which Windies stopped England from becoming champions for the second time.


Marlon Samuels became 'Man of the Match' for his brilliant performance, 85 not out off 66 balls.


It was the time when Marlon Samuels won man of the match title for the second time.



2021 Man of the Match

The 2021 T20 World Cup final was played between Australia and New Zealand in Dubai on 14th November 2021, this was the first time New Zealand reached final and Australia won by 8 wickets.


Mitchell Marsh named 'Man of the Match' for scoring 77 not out off 50 balls.



2022 Man of the Match

This is the most recent edition of ICC Men's T20 World Cup which was played between England and Pakistan in MCG on 13th November 2022. England won by 5 wickets and become T20 WC champions for the second time.


Sam Curran 'Man of the Match' for his bowling performance 3/12 (4).


It was list of all player of the match/man of the match of all T20 WC final editions, now it will interesting to see who will be the man of the match in this year's (2024) T20 WC final.
