January 13, 2024 at 10:38 AMYoungster Dhruv Jurel has been called up by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) selection committee as a third backup option for wicketkeeping.
Jurel made an impact in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and India A trip to South Africa that resulted in his first call-up. The Ranji Trophy match between Uttar Pradesh and Kerala ended in a draw, despite the 22-year-old's tenacious 63.
The 22-year-old has also revealed his Test jersey number following his unexpected first Test call-up for the India vs England Test series. Jurel was selected ahead of Ishan Kishan, who is currently on a break from cricket. Now, Dhruv Jurel will now be the team's third wicketkeeper along with KS Bharat and KL Rahul.
Jurel, an IPL player for the Rajasthan Royals, disclosed his Test jersey number on their official social media account. Although there isn't much information available regarding the meaning of "number 16," it is safe to assume that he won't care about the number he plays for but will instead be thrilled to have received it in the first place.
