May 23, 2024 at 3:58 PMMS Dhoni is one of the greatest players to have played the game. Not only he has been a destroyer with the bat and won tons of matches for his national side but also shown great leadership skills to lead India to many glorious triumphs. He has also been a legend in the Indian Premier League and marshalled CSK to five title triumphs, making them the joint-most successful franchise in the history of the marquee tournament.
Despite being aged 42, Dhoni showed his finishing prowess and played some blistering cameos for CSK. However, Chennai lost to RCB in their last league stage game and exited IPL 2024. After CSK’s departure, the speculations of Dhoni’s retirement is doing a lot of rounds on the internet.
Amidst the speculations, Chennai Super Kings’ CEO has shared his views on Dhoni’s future. Kasi Viswanathan said that whatever will be Dhoni’s decision, the management will respect that. However, on a personal note he said that he is hopeful of Dhoni’s return in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League.
"I do not know, It is a question which only MS can answer. The question for us, we have always respected the decisions taken by MS, we have left it to him. As all of you know, he has always taken his decisions and announced it at the appropriate time. We do expect that we will get a decision as and when he decides. But we are very, very hopeful that he will be available for CSK next year. That is the view and expectations of the fans and mine,” Kasi Viswanathan said in a video on CSK’s YouTube channel.
Dhoni was battling a knee injury during the 2024 IPL season and due to this reason, he was pushed back in the batting line-up. However, he showed his brilliance in the limited outings and smashed 161 runs in eight innings at a strike rate of 220.55.
