May 13, 2024 at 12:05 PMLucknow Super Giants will battle it out against Delhi Capitals in the 64th match of the Indian Premier League 2024 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on May 14. Ahead of the clash, LSG has suffered a body blow as it has been reported that KL Rahul has travelled with the team for the game.
This news has come after LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka was involved in a heated exchange with Rahul after LSG’s game against Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 8 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Goenka seems to be slamming Rahul and LSG was thrashed by Hyderabad by 10 wickets. There was news that the LSG owner was criticised for his mediocre show with the bat as the LSG skipper scored just 29 runs off 33 deliveries.
With news of Rahul not travelling for the Delhi game, one could argue that not everything is right between the star batter and the ownership after their animated chat. There have also been rumours of Rahul leaving the franchise after the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League. However, Rahul could still join the team on the day of the game.
Rahul has been a vital cog of the LSG franchise and no India batter of the calibre of dashing stroke maker in the team. The ace batter has run-bank with the bat and piled on runs for fun in the IPL. Moreover, he has been a fine leader and guided the Super Giants to playoffs in the last seasons. However, there has been constant debate over his strike rate and this time around, it seems to have received flak from the LSG owner himself. In the ongoing edition, Rahul has been the top scorer of his side. He has featured in 12 matches and amassed 460 runs at a strike rate of 136.09.
