Former Indian cricket star Yuvraj Singh’s father thinks that the discussion on the player’s age should come to an end. In an interview talking about Rohit Sharma, he said that Rohit has been a fantastic player who has never worried about his physical health and fitness, and that the Indian skipper should play as long as he could.

Rohit Sharma’s current age is 37. When the T20 World Cup 2026 happens, he will be 39 years old. So it's likely that the 2026 T20 World Cup will be his final chance to experience World Cup victory. In all, Rohit has participated in 11 World Cups: eight T20Is and three ODIs. He has won the World Cup trophy once during India's 2007 T20 World Cup victory. He missed out in the semi-finals in 2015, 2016, and 2019, and again nearly missed out last year. He has the caliber to continue till the 2027 World Cup in South Africa, but form and fitness are the two most important factor which decides how long a player can play.

Yograj Singh has asked the BCCI to reconsider Rohit for as long as his form and fitness hold up, urging them to let go of the "age-factor" mindset. He thinks that the India captain can continue playing for India until he is 50. Yograj Singh in an interview said, “I’ve never understood the talk about age. What is wrong if you are fit and performing at 40-45. The age factor should be scrapped, Rohit Sharma is a great player who never thought about fitness and training. If he does, he can play till he is 50.”

In the current season of IPL, Rohit Sharma’s terrible performance has continued. He has scored just 69 runs in six innings since his century against CSK on April 14. In this season he has scored 349 runs in 13 matches with an average of 29.08 having one century on his name. The Indian Captain is out of form in the IPL which could be a setback as the T20 World Cup is approaching. Rohit should return to his best if he wishes to win another ICC trophy.
