April 11, 2024 at 10:10 AMGujarat Titans came into existence on 25 October 2021 which was led by Hardik Pandya. They won their first title in the inaugural season. In the year 2024, Shubhman Gill is appointed as the new captain of the Gujarat Titans franchise.
Shubman Gill has impressed everyone with his captaincy skills and his excellent batting. He got the captaincy after Hardik Pandya’s surprise return to the Mumbai Indians prior to the auction last year. The way Gill is handling and taking all the responsibility of the team, praising the team members, taking wise decisions shows how brilliant job he is doing and the team is in safe hands. There was a question asked by broadcaster Harsha Bhogle during the post-match ceremony which irritated Gill a bit.
Harsha Bhogle asked, “Well done you got two points today. But one I must admit some of us thought you left it too late but well done today.”
To this question Gill replied very impressively “Thank you, when GT is playing don’t think like that.”
Harsha Bhogle was stunned by Gill’s reply and found it difficult to respond to what Gill said. The Rajasthan Royals player Riyan Parag (76) and Sanju Samson (68) hit half-centuries with their bat which helped RR score 196/3 in 20 overs during the first innings of the game. Mohit Sharma, Rashid Khan, and Umesh Yadav claimed a wicket for GT in the meantime. Gujarat’s skipper Gill praised Rashid who hit the last match-winning shot. Gill said “We were targeting 45 in 3 overs and it is very much gettable and that was the mindset at that time. Mathematically both batters needed to hit 22 off 9 balls and that’s how the thinking goes and if one batter goes berserk that will do. I would have loved to finish the game, but very happy with Rahul and Rashid Bhai for finishing the job for us. Winning the ball off the last ball is always a great feeling. Rashid Khan is someone who you always want in your team, he is such a competitor.”
Gill’s attitude and excellent captaincy style show how well he is captaining the team.
